Move Beyond Implant Surgery Theory. Start Doing It.

Go from knowing the theory to confidently placing implants in your own practice.

You’ve taken the courses. You understand implant planning, surgical principles, and the theory.

But when a suitable patient sits in your chair, you still hesitate.

That is exactly the gap this Mini-Residency was created to close.

Over two intensive days in our Wellington dental practice, you will personally perform live-patient implant surgery with close guidance from experienced implant clinicians.

This is not an observational course. You will personally place at least 8 implants on real patients.

And you won't be left sharing a chair with another attendee while you wait for your turn.

You will have:

  • 8+ live-patient implant placements
  • Your own experienced surgical dental assistant the entire course
  • Patients supplied and vetted by our team
  • Cases planned and discussion about the thought process
  • Guided and freehand surgical experience
  • Two full days focused almost entirely on surgery
  • Lifetime access to post-course mentoring
  • Follow-up on the patients you treated
  • Lifetime access to iDD's complete Digital Implantology curriculum + support group

The goal isn't simply to place implants in Wellington.
The goal is to make sure you are ready to place them when you get home.

Place 8+ Implants

You will get to place at least 8 implants over the two days on live patients provided by us. Possibly more depending on the patient's need.

Mentored Procedures

We provide a mentor-to-attendee ratio of 1 to 2 for superior guidance on decision-making and minimal waiting. You will be totally supported.

Pre-planned Cases

All cases are planned in advance by our team and surgical guides are made for each case. You can choose to place some implants freehand if desired.

Hands-on Training

All theory is taught online before the course so the two days can focus on practical, hands-on learning with repetition to maximise attendee learning outcomes.

Patients Supplied

Our clinical team in NZ will provide all patients that have been vetted as suitable and planned with surgical guides ready. You have the option to bring your own patients.

Experienced DA's

You will have our own DA's that work in our practice. Not another attendee of the course. These are experienced surgical dental assistants who is assigned to you for the full two days.

Follow-up Support

Get access to an alumni iDD WhatsApp group after you enrol. We will give you post-surgery follow-up of the cases you did at the course and support you as you tackle your first cases back in your clinic.

VIP Experience

Travel to our our clinic / course venue in style with a VIP experience. We will pick you up and drop you off from the hotel and have dinner planned at one of the best resturants in Wellington, NZ.

High-end Practice

This course is held in our personal state-of-the-art dental practice and HQ of iDD. With large surgical rooms, you will have all the tech, tools, and support around you to perform at your best.

Why "Only" 8+ Implants?

You may have seen overseas implant courses advertising 20 or even 30 implant placements.

So why do we guarantee 8+?

Because this Mini-Residency was not designed to maximize an implant counter.

It was designed to maximize the quality of your learning.

We deliberately keep the experience high-end and with tight quality control. So you can be proud of what you are doing and follow the latest surgical principles.

1 Mentor per 2 Dentists

Your mentor can watch what you're doing, help talk through your decisions, correct your technique and help you understand why something should be done differently.

Your Own Experienced Surgical DA

Your dental assistant is not another dentist who has signed up.

You work alongside one of the experienced surgical DAs from our own implant practice.

That means you can concentrate on becoming a better surgeon rather than spending half the course assisting another attendee.

It also means you can learn how we operate our implant clinics and what to teach your DA when you get back home.

Real Clinical Decision-Making

We don't want you simply drilling 20 similar osteotomies.

We want you thinking about:

  • flap design
  • implant position
  • drilling sequence
  • bone density
  • primary stability
  • guided versus freehand placement
  • soft-tissue management
  • suturing
  • troubleshooting
  • restorative considerations
  • what happens when reality differs from the plan

The number of implants matters. That's why we guarantee at least eight.

But the number that matters even more is:
How many implants will you confidently place after you return home?

That is the outcome we optimize the entire Mini-Residency around.

You're Training in a Real Implant Practice. Not a Temporary Course Clinic

The Mini-Residency takes place at a real dental practice that operates 7 days a week - Naenae Dental Clinic in Wellington, New Zealand.

This is our own high-tech, 10-chair dental practice. Implant dentistry isn't something we set up for course weekends. It is something our clinicians and clinical team do every week.

You'll operate using the same:

  • surgical rooms
  • digital technology
  • implant equipment
  • workflows
  • instruments
  • surgical assistants
  • planning systems

that we use for our own patients.

You aren't just learning how to place an implant. You're seeing how an efficient implant service actually operates.

Lacking the confidence to start placing implants?

Our Live Patient Implant Surgery Course offers a unique opportunity to gain extensive hands-on experience by performing 8-10 implant placements over just two days in New Zealand.

Imagine the confidence you'll gain by executing multiple live surgeries under the guidance of very experienced mentors, all while immersed in a state-of-the-art clinical environment.

Our Attendees Say
"Just Do It"

We have been running this course for 3+ years and have trained over 30 dentists across ANZ.

The Course Doesn't Finish When You Leave Wellington

This is another major difference between the iDD Mini-Residency and many overseas surgical courses.

After your two days with us, we don't disappear.

You receive lifetime access to our private alumni WhatsApp community.

When you're planning your first cases back home, you can discuss them with us.

When you're unsure about something, ask.

When you want another opinion on a treatment plan, show us.

And because the patients you operated on remain under our carewe'll show you what happened to the implants you placed.

You'll receive follow-up information about your surgical cases so that you can learn from the healing and outcomes.

Because seeing the surgery is only half of the education.

Seeing what happened afterward completes the learning loop.

Who Is This Course For?

This Mini-Residency is designed primarily for dentists who have already learned implant fundamentals but haven't yet crossed the bridge to confidently treating implant patients independently.

You may be ideal for this course if:

You have completed an introductory implant course...

You understand implant theory...

You've practiced on models or pig jaws like our course Introduction to Implant Dentistry - The Fundamentals ...

You've watched implant surgery...

Perhaps you've even assisted on implant cases...

But you're still referring straightforward implant patients because you don't quite feel ready to do them yourself.

If that sounds familiar, you're exactly who we designed this course for.

Clinical Prerequisites

This is a live-patient surgical course.

You should therefore already be comfortable with standard oral surgery, including:

  • raising flaps
  • extractions
  • surgical extractions/wisdom teeth
  • suturing

You do not need to already be an experienced implant clinician.

If you're uncertain whether your current experience is appropriate, book a short call with us. We would rather tell you honestly that you need more preparation than put you into a course before you're ready.

More Than 30 Dentists Have Already Made the Jump

We've been running the iDD Live Patient Implant Mini-Residency for more than three years.

More than 30 dentists from across Australia and New Zealand have now completed the training.

But the statistic we're most proud of isn't the number of dentists we've trained.

It's what they tell us afterward: "I'm ready."

From "I Know the Theory" to "I Can Actually Do This"

Dr Milena Bulgaranova-Read

"When I put my hand in the first patient's mouth, I felt like a student again. Now I feel confident I can go back on Monday... I can go and do an implant."

Dr Osman Ali

"This is perfect for anyone who's done a starter course but doesn't yet have the confidence to quite start offering the treatment. It's that bridge that you're looking for."

Dr Ben Sorensen

"I would probably pay double for this course... It was very much worth every dollar."

You're not paying NZ$18,400 simply to place eight implants.

You're investing in shortening the distance between:

"I've learned implantology theory." and "I provide implant dentistry."

If this experience gives you the confidence and clinical framework to start appropriately treating straightforward implant cases in your own practice, the value of the course continues long after the two days in Wellington are finished.

The Mini-Residency is designed to give you the clinical repetition, mentorship and support system to make that transition responsibly.

Check Out the Feedback From Our Attendees!

The facilities here, the DA, the equipment, everything's top-notch.

"The first was, it was nerve wracking even though I sort of knew what I was in for, but second one, lot more easier. once I got used to all the componentry, all the tools, Ahmad and Hamid walking in and out of the room checking us, giving us support we need.

The facilities here, the DA, the equipment, everything's top-notch. The DA was so familiar with the procedure. They're ready for the next step. You can tell everything's been streamlined here, so it's a good place to come just to see how they do things."

My confidence has gone UP quite a lot just from the first day.

"[This course] blew my expectations out of the water... It was just really good to relax, get in the mindset and concentrate on doing my best.

I think the original plan was for me to place three and I did all five of them on the patient. So, It went along a lot faster than I expected, and a lot smoother than I expected too. I think my confidence has gone up quite a lot, just by the first day... Can’t complain at all!"

I feel so confident like I'm bursting with adrenaline

"I was expecting to just place two or three implants in the whole two days course and that was also a pretty much reasonable expectation I had. But I ended up actually placing 10 or 11 of them. I can't even count 11 implants, and out of them one was full upper arch all on six where it's technically more advanced than the basic...

... I think they both made it possible for me. I feel so confident like I'm bursting with adrenaline and I just wanna go and do something now."

Very happy with things in terms of value for money in terms of time as well.

"It's fantastic. Dr. Hamid and Dr. Ahmad together, their experience with implants is massive. They know the whole process. They've gone through all the complications themselves so they're really just trying to fast track us. Give as much of their expertise and pass it to us.

Very happy with things in terms of value for money in terms of time as well."

Here’s what your practice will look like when you learn implantology from iDD

After the course, you will be able to confidently provide a treatment alternative to bridges and partial plates - because let’s face it, they are not always the best option for a large number of cases.

Gaining confidence in implants as a dentist not only unlocks a large range of new treatments, but it massively reduces workplace stress. You’ll feel a unique sense of pride when you’re able to look after all your patients in-house instead of referring them to a specialist.

    1. 1
Increase revenue - Implantology is one of the most valuable treatments you can introduce into your practice, both clinically and financially. Expanding your skills allows you to confidently manage more cases in-house rather than referring them out, creating a more complete experience for your patients while increasing the value of your clinical time. By integrating digital implantology, which is covered throughout the course, you can also streamline treatment planning and clinical workflows, making implant cases more predictable and efficient. The result is the ability to broaden the services your practice offers and build a more profitable and sustainable practice.
    2. 2
Improves your general dental skills - This implant course addresses the fundamentals of surgery, as such you’ll go back to the basics and learn a number of different skills that you can apply to different aspects of your dentistry such as wisdom tooth removal. Just by learning implantology, you’ll improve your knowledge and confidence in different treatments that rely on solid surgical skills.
    3. 3
Reinvigorates your career - After a certain period of time, most dentists get extremely bored with simply placing crowns and doing check-ups. Don't get me started with doing fillings all day! Ensure that your career doesn’t stagnate by learning a new procedure that benefits you as well as your patient.
    4. 4
Boosts your reputation - As you build experience and achieve successful implant outcomes, you’ll begin to establish yourself as a dentist who can confidently offer a broader range of treatments. Your clinical results can also serve as powerful content for your personal or practice social media, helping to showcase your expertise and build trust with prospective patients. Many dentists have successfully built a significant part of their implant practice through referrals from colleagues who trust them to manage cases on their behalf.
    5. 5
Attracts more patients - Having a hard time filling your books? Learning how to place implants is a great way to appeal to more patients by expanding your scope of practice.  If a patient comes in with an unrestorable decoronated tooth and wants it replaced, right there and then the tooth can be removed and an implant placed. Minimizing time wasting for both the patient and the dentist.

Remember, you’re not just learning how to do implants.

You’re investing in your career, increasing your earning potential, and providing your patients with potentially life-altering treatment.

    How long are the mini-residencies?

This mini-residency runs from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM each day. It is a 2-day course held on Friday and Saturday.

Is the course in-person or online?

This course is delivered in person at Naenae Dental Clinic in Wellington, New Zealand. As part of your registration, you’ll also receive access to iDD’s Digital Implantology Online Course Bundle, valued at over $1990 USD.

Are there any prerequisites for the course?

Will I get access to the teaching material?

This means you can watch the theory before the live course to arrive better prepared, or revisit it afterward at your own pace. And whenever you need a refresher in the future, the material will always be there for you to refer back to.

I’m not really interested in digital implantology but want to learn how to place implants. Is this course for me?

The course will introduce digital implantology and demonstrate how surgical guide workflows can simplify the learning curve and help improve treatment outcomes. However, digital implantology is just one component of the course, not the primary focus.

Our aim is to give you a comprehensive understanding of implantology, while also showing you where digital technology fits into modern clinical practice and how it can complement traditional techniques.

Importantly, you won’t just learn about these technologies, you’ll use both digital and traditional workflows to carry out implant surgery and design restorations. This hands-on experience will allow you to compare the approaches for yourself and decide what works best for you and your practice.

By the end of the course, you’ll be better equipped to decide whether you want to continue with traditional implant techniques, incorporate digital workflows into your clinic, or use a combination of both.

    Who will be teaching me?

You will be learning from Dr Ahmad Al Hassiny, a key opinion leader in the digital dentistry industry who has been placing implants for over six years. In his clinic, he works with multiple implant systems, including BioHorizons, Osstem, Neoss, Neodent and Nobel Biocare.

Dr Ahmad has experience across a wide range of implant cases, from single implants and implant bridges to immediate implant placement, using both freehand and fully guided approaches depending on the clinical situation.

You will also learn from Dr Hamid, a highly experienced implant dentist who brings extensive clinical knowledge and practical experience to the course. Together, Dr Ahmad and Dr Hamid will share different perspectives, techniques and real world clinical insights to help you develop a comprehensive and practical approach to implant dentistry.

They understand that learning implant surgery can feel overwhelming, which is why the course is designed to be practical, approachable and tailored to each participant. You will receive individual guidance and advice throughout the course, helping you build the confidence to apply what you have learned in your own clinic.

The teaching is engaging, practical and easy to follow, focusing on what you actually need to know without unnecessary complexity or confusing jargon.

Is there a completion certificate or credential offered upon finishing the course?

Yes. You will receive a certificate of completion, which includes 14 hours of CPD.

You will also have the opportunity to earn additional CPD hours through the online content included with the course, provided you complete the relevant modules.

Will there be any hands-on training or clinical experience included in the course?

Of course. You will complete successful implant surgery under careful supervision. You’ll also receive one-on-one coaching throughout the course and get personalised feedback on your skills and how to improve. By the end of the course, you will be confident to start implementing implant surgery in your practice.

Are there any payment plans available for the course?

Payment plans are available for this course. If you’d like to inquire about a payment plan for the course, please email support@instituteofdigitaldentistry.com.

Is there any additional costs not included in the course fee?

Nope! Your course fee covers everything you need for the full 2-day course, including your participation in all training sessions, as well as lunch and catering during the breaks on both days.

Just turn up ready to learn and we’ll take care of the rest.
